PeopleSoft board member: Conway underplayed disruptive influence of Oracle takeover effort

Steven Goldby, the Symex Technologies CEO who chairs PeopleSoft's governance committee, said that Conway was fired in part because was less than honest when he told Wall Street analysts last year that Oracle's hostile takeover wasn't disrupting PeopleSoft's business. At the same time, the board said Conway's firing had nothing to do with Oracle's takeover bid. Which is it? It's more likely the board saw Conway as too obsessed and entrenched in his battle with Oracle and its CEO Larry Ellison to engineer a good outcome for the company.
