Over the last five years, the country saw an upsurge in government spending on IT, driven by its efforts to computerize and automate its various departments and agencies. But despite this cautiousness in corporate spending, certain market segments such as the call centers, mobile telecommunication services, wireless LANs (local area network) and digital devices will paint a healthy business landscape. Steady demand for these products and services is predicted to persist, IDC said.

IDC predicts that the prepaid market will expand at an even more aggressive pace and the prepaid service will become an even more important tool in bringing to consumers products and services that are traditionally costly. The IDC report anticipates the telecommunications sector to hit the USD 3 billion milestone.
