Philips in Net-based tie-up with S'pore's Autron unit

Singapore-based Autron Corporation on Wednesday announced a strategic alliance between its subsidiary Smartag (S) Pte Ltd and Philips Semiconductor in its iCode-Net program.

SINGAPORE--Singapore-based Autron Corporation on Wednesday announced a strategic alliance between its subsidiary Smartag (S) Pte Ltd and Philips Semiconductor in its iCode-Net program.

Smartag is a service provider for transponder products and related radio frequency identification (RFID) labels. The firm hopes to leverage on its iCode-Net partnership with Philips to boost its smart label technology--utilized in transport and library systems-- and sales.

Developed by Philips, iCode-Net is a multi-vendor Web site which offers information on products, systems applications and standards as well as the latest in identification technology, according to a statement from Autron.

Users to the Web site can also find news, case studies and background information on key players in the smart label market, from semiconductor suppliers, label manufacturers, to reader and printer manufacturers and integrators.

Autron is a supplier and distributor of capital equipment and back-end semiconductor packaging equipment and consumables.
