Philips announced on Tuesday that a new interactive TV set-top box running Microsoft software is available to cable companies. The Nexperia DVP allows consumers to download audio and video content from cable networks and offers high-speed Internet access. The box also lets consumers download new software and upgrades from cable providers. Philips has not begun production of its Nexperia DVP. But once orders come in, the company said, it will start manufacturing the boxes. A Philips representative would not discuss how close the company is to signing up cable companies.
