Police officer arrested for child porn

Detective constable allegedly downloaded child pornography to his home PC
Written by Richard Barry, Contributor

A police officer has been arrested after thousands of child porn images were found on his home PC.

The detective constable, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was under investigation for a separate inquiry -- allegedly attempting to protect a colleague from a sex assault allegation -- when the images of children, some as young as two, were found on his PC.

The officer serves at Wandsworth police station and is now on bail for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and for suspicion of possession of child pornography. He has been bailed to appear at a central London police station pending enquiries.

The police refuse to comment on the details of the case but confirmed the officer will appear in court "in the near future".
