Long-term pal The Codepope writes to let me know he is now available for your viewing pleasure in the Pet Shop Boys video for their new anti ID card song, Integral. Last month, he turned up in response to a No2ID request for extras for the vid, did what was asked and is now immortalised.

You'll have to watch very closely to see him, though!

The song is quintessential PSB; a Kraftwerkesque melange of treated voices and paranoid shiny disco, with more than a hint of the Michael Zager Band's 1978 flexisexual dancefloor hit Let's All Chant in the hook, which is all to the good. The video is most watchable if a bit... well, it's not derivative, but you'll have seen things like it before. I do like the ZX81 style graphics, and rumour has it that the 2D barcodes which flash up from time to time will link you to various anti-ID card campaign sites.

What better way to start the weekend than a good boogie in a good cause - and, of course, that great family game of Spot The Codepope!
