Power Over Ethernet (PoE) will ultimately become a defacto technology embedded in LAN switches. IDC estimates the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ market for PoE to be $96.09 mln in 2004, and forecast to expand at a CAGR of 64% to reach $1.14 bln by 2009. PoE revenue constituted 2.4% of total LAN revenues in 2004 and IDC expects this proportion to increase to 18.8% by 2009.
