PSINet could flee Britain because of RIP

After Poptel, Claranet and GreenNet, PSINet has become the next ISP to state that it will seriously think about leaving the UK when the RIP Bill becomes law

One of the world's largest internet service providers, PSINet becomes the fourth ISP to announce it would consider leaving the UK if the government passes its controversial Regulation of Investigatory Powers (RIP) Bill.

The fight to throw out RIP seems to be over as the bill has its third and final reading in Parliament last week. Despite significant ammendments, opponets still believe that government access to encryption keys -- which remains enshrined in the bill -- will do damage to the UK's burgeoning e-commerce industry.
