Public alpha of Apollo releasing around March 16th

PC World is reporting that Adobe plans to release a public beta of Apollo that will coincide with their Apollo Camp event on March 16th. With an updated labs site and books already published, it looks like we'll be seeing a public version soon.

Update: The version going live is technically an alpha, not a beta. This is what happens when I rush through things at night. Sorry about any confusion.

According to PC World, Adobe is planning to release a public version of their much anticipated Apollo runtime sometime around March 16th. March 16th is the date of an Adobe event called Apollo Camp that is a one day event showcasing some of the applications people are building with Apollo as well as some sessions on building Apollo applications. The Apollo Camp page seems to hint that the attendees will receive a copy of Apollo which would coincide with a release date around the 16th.

Furthermore, the Adobe Labs site for Apollo has undergone a reorganization with new content as well as a downloads section meaning a release should be coming soon. Adobe has hit the ground running with Apollo with books and events for developers before the runtime is even in public beta.

I'll be at Apollo Camp next week and I'm going to be talking about Apollo (along with Windows Presentation Foundation and XULRunner) at the Web 2.0 Expo in April. If this timetable is correct, we should have a lot of public feedback about the platform and it will make for an interesting discussion.
