Q2 2004 mobile phone market shares

Nokia remains the largest player in the handset market in terms of overall sales, with 45 mln units shipped in Q2. The Finnish company saw its market share fall to 27.7% in Q2 2004, although its sales were up 11.8% in Q2 2003. Motorola saw its shipments more than double in Q2 2004 compared to Q2 2003. However, its 52.4% YTY increase in sales contrasted with a 4.7% drop QTQ. In Q2, Motorola had 14.7% of the market, closely followed by Samsung Latest News about Samsung with 13.9%, according to IDC. Sharing fourth place are Siemens and Sony Ericsson, each with 6.4% of the market. Just behind them is LG Electronics with a 6.1% market share in Q2 2004.
