Rackspace has hired IT veteran Ajit Melarkode as its new managing director for Asia-Pacific, replacing Jim Fagan, who departed from the role last year.
Melarkode has been in the IT industry for 20 years, beginning his career as an equities analyst before becoming a fund manager and investing in IT companies. He subsequently held managerial roles in a number of IT companies, including EDS.
Melarkode was at Synechron, based in the UK, for 18 months prior to taking the new job at Rackspace.
He will be relocating to Hong Kong for his new role.
"[Rackspace] is experiencing healthy demand across the region, and there is a huge amount of untapped potential as businesses look to expand globally," Merlarkode said in a statement.
He said that he is looking forward to working across the Asia, Australia, and New Zealand regions.
The Rackspace managing director for Australia, Mark Randall, will be reporting to Merlarkode.
