Reader Reid: I can still log on to my SunRocket account and do stuff!

If you don't believe Reid, take a look at the date sig in the lower right hand corner of the screenshot I just made.I gotta tell ya, if I receive more stories like this around Halloween, gonna nominate SunRocket for a Living Ghost award.

Reid relates a real head-scratcher here. Let's go to my Inbox and see what he wrote me less than an hour ago:

Now, how's this for strange: I dropped SR after they flamed out, and I went back to our local Baby Bell. I ported my number back to the Baby Bell, who had owned it in the first place.

Prior to doing that I had set up a GrandCentral number, and I forwarded all of my SR calls to that number. I have one friend here in town who used SR as well. I think she must have stayed with Teleblend.

When this friend calls us now, the calls don't go to our regular phone (the Baby Bell phone that received the ported number), instead they go to the GrandCentral number.

Hey it's me, Russ again. Thought necessary to jump back in here now in order to prepare you for the real kicker. Bold-face is mine.

I realized that I could STILL log into my SR account through my old bookmarked internal link to my account info, so I went into the account and turned OFF the forwarding. I now need to test whether my friend's calls go to the correct number now. So not only do the SR internal pages still come up, the site actually still functions!

Sheesh, man. Not only was SunRocket's demise handled real badly, but what's that line from the Eagles' "Hotel California?"

Oh, yes. "They stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast."
