Reader response: Comdex is crude

I very much enjoyed and appreciated your article on the interesting advertising methods at Comdex. It seems to me that no matter where you go, you can't escape the images of naked or barely clad women (or men) whether it's in an advertisement, on television or in the movies.

I very much enjoyed and appreciated your article on the interesting advertising methods at Comdex. It seems to me that no matter where you go, you can't escape the images of naked or barely clad women (or men) whether it's in an advertisement, on television or in the movies. It's disheartening to believe that the advertisers have to sink to the basest level to sell products.

I'm a mother of two girls (ages 5 and 7), and it really frightens me to think that they'll be growing up seeing women portrayed like raunchy porn stars and assume that it's okay. It's impossible for me to screen everything from them no matter how hard I try.

What can we do about it? The only thing that I can see is to avoid purchasing products from those who choose to advertise like this, but it's getting to the point that you can't escape from the mass market "booty call" that's occurring in seemingly every form of advertising today.

Thank you for a refreshing change of pace!!
