Red Hat aims to build alliance

Linux provider Red Hat has launched a program aimed at strengthening relationships with other technology companies. In the company's "Alliance" program, "premier partners" will work with Red Hat to make their products compatible with its Linux enterprise products, including the recently announced Linux Advanced Server. The partners include BMC Software, Borland Software, Computer Associates International, IBM and Veritas Software. Other partners in another level of the Red Hat program will get expanded access to Red Hat products and services, and will get assistance in making applications and systems work with the enterprise product line. Red Hat is also setting up an "Alliance Portal," where partners can get technology, development and marketing materials, and participate in promotional activities. --Margaret Kane, Special to ZDNet News
