Linux specialist Red Hat has hired a new vice president of marketing, John Young, to replace Mark de Visser, who left to join start-up Agitar Software. Young previously was a marketing vice president for Hewlett-Packard's network-attached storage division, Red Hat said Monday. At Agitar, de Visser will have the same title he held at Red Hat, the company said last week.

At Red Hat, Young will be in charge of promoting the company's products and brand name during a time that Linux has come under attack by SCO Group, which alleges that Linux infringes on its Unix intellectual property.
