SINGAPORE - The headquarters will serve as a base for all management and administration for Redback Networks. Redback currently serves over 300 customers worldwide, including many in the APAC region, which includes Australia, China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
The establishment of Redback’s regional headquarters is fueled by the growth potential of the Internet and broadband in the region. According to IDC, Asia Pacific’s Internet growth is second only to the US and will achieve a total of 40 million users in 2000. By 2004, IDC estimates that Asia (excluding Japan) will have an Internet population of 141 million.
"With international markets accounting for more than 30 percent of Redback’s global revenues, Asia Pacific is a key driver for our global growth," said Vivek Ragavan, Redback’s president and chief executive officer. "We decided on Hong Kong as the base of our operations because it has one of Asia’s best infrastructures for business and an excellent talent pool."
