Dr Colin Quek, CIO, Raffles Medical Group, says attracting and retaining good talent will be a challenge in 2007

Q. What do you remember best of 2006?
The increasing problem of IT security threats.

What are your top 3 IT priorities for 2007, and why?
I would say stability and resilience, which encompasses IT security and business continuity, as well as consolidating my multiple business applications to create a more flexible application infrastructure to support the needs of our businesses.

Why? The business today cannot function efficiently or effectively without good IT support, so I need to make sure that I am there for and together with my users.

What will be your IT organization's biggest challenge, and why?
The biggest challenge is attracting and retaining good manpower as the economy seems to be picking up.

What is the one technology that you'll be watching closely, and why?
Virtualization--it seems to be the most cost-effective way to maintain an agile infrastructure with good uptimes.
