Wells confirmed the appointment to ZDNet.com.au this afternoon, saying he would start in the role on Monday.

The executive will replace Avaya's former managing director of its South Pacific region, Carlton Taya, who left the company in April this year. At the time, ARN reported the executive was asked to leave the business.

Wells left Business Objects in late 2008 after it was acquired by German software giant SAP. He had led the company in Australia since July 2005.
