Rumor: Amazon's working on a pair of tablets, code-named "Coyote" and "Hollywood"

Summary:Rumors are circulating that Amazon is working not one but two tablets set to be released later this year.

Curious what the words "Coyote" and "Hollywood" have in common? According to one source, they are the code names of Amazon's upcoming tablets.

BGR reports via a tipster that Amazon plans to release both devices before the end of the year. Running on NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip, Coyote will be the less-advanced, cheaper device, while the quad-core NVIDIA T30-equipped Hollywood tablet will be far speedier. It's likely that these specifications differences will come with corresponding differences in screen size, though BGR's tipster didn't spill those details.

Speculation over Amazon's tablet plans has ramped up rapidly in recent months,  and especially since Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos essentially confirmed his company's tablet plans last week. Fortunately for fans of the Kindle, Bezos said that the company's future tablet would be offered in addition the Kindle rather than instead of it.

As for operating systems, speculation currently points to Android as Amazon's OS of choice. The move would make sense considering that Amazon launched its own Android App Store in March.
