"There are three things that man may never know", said the wise old sage to his wide-eyed disciple. "From where the wind cometh, the mind of a woman and the year that Bluetooth finally makes it into the shops". "Master, that's a bit un-PC", gasped the acolyte. "It's their own fault", said the guru. "They concentrated on over-specifying the minutiae of the internals without thinking about interoperability". "No, Master," said the young student. "I meant the bit about women.". The bearded elder fixed his charge with the steeliest of stares. "That's what I was talking about, fool. Go and say twenty Hail Mandys" Still, it'll all be wonderful in the end, says a new report. Version 1.2 will work. Interference will not be a problem. The chipsets will be as cheap as they promised all those years ago. And the incredible success of wireless networks that has happened while the Bluetooth Consortium was holed up in their RF-proof caverns merely validates the market. Honest. Look, do you know how embarrassing it'll be if Bluetooth is a flop? It's unthinkable. So it won't happen. Wonder if Uncle Sam's got any money left?
