12/7/2001 Apple has always been canny about marketing, which makes me a little suspicious about the sudden death of the Cube. No sooner had Apple announced that it was no longer available than demand went through the roof. Ebay, that modern meter of supply and demand, is showing considerable interest in that most advanced piece of obsolete kit, and the newsgroups are full of people regretting that they'd never paid it any attention during its life. Would I be surprised if a new, improved Cube turned up "by popular demand"? About as surprised as if the mobile phone companies announce that in a huge blast of magnanimity and keenness for value for money, they're going to make massive roaming charges a thing of the past.
