Salesforce updates community tools with Google Drive integration

The company also launches features to analyze, build and target communities via its Community Cloud.

Salesforce on Thursday launched an update to its Community Cloud that includes better recommendations, tools to build faster, templates and connections to Google Drive.

The company has been working to push communities as the "connective tissue" linking customers, employees and partners. Communities also run through Salesforce's various products.

Among the key updates:

  • Targeted Recommendations are designed to use algorithms to comb structured and unstructured data to find the most relevant content and files for each members. Community managers can also suggest content and target it to a group or individual.
  • Lightning Community Builder and Templates allow business users to create communities instead of developers. The communities build by business users will be mobile and customized.
  • Salesforce Files Connect for Google Drive allow community members to collaborate and share any file in Google Drive. Mike Stone, marketing for community cloud. Mike stone said Salesforce has been connecting to various repositories such as Box, Microsoft SharePoint and others.

As for pricing, the updates are included for existing Community Cloud licenses. All of the new features are available now with more features scheduled for the second half.
