Samsung has just announced its new 512GB solid state drive that boasts read and write speeds so fast that two "standard length" DVD movies can be stored to this SSD within 60 seconds.

The Samsung 512GB SSD produces maximum sequential read and write speeds of 250MBps and 220MBps, respectively. For added protection, there is reinforced 256bit AES encryption to protect data from hackers and/or when lost.

Using a 30 nanometer-class 32 gigabit chip with a 3.0Gbps interface, Samsung insists that this SSD provides "three-fold the performance" and better boot times than old hard disk drives. The manufacturer also points toward a feature called " toggle-mode DDR NAND," which apparently doesn't exist on any other SSD, but it allows for toggling the power based on preferred uses and maximizing the battery life.

The 512GB SSD will enter into volume production in July.
