Samsung is continuing to push the development and future of "Smart TVs" at Free the TV Developer Day in San Jose today.

Smart TVs are essentially allows for personalizing and customizing the TV experience, similar to the way smartphones have evolved.

Thus, Samsung's event is intended educating and helping developers learn to build apps for Samsung Apps, an HDTV application store. Attendees will also be hearing from a number of different speakers about this technological development, including Steve Wozniak.

Developers will also get tutorials about the SDK, which should be convenient for anyone interested in entering the "Free the TV" challenge, which includes a total amount of $500,000 up for grabs for the most innovative apps submitted before November 11. The SDK supports Javascript, XML and Adobe Flash Lite 3.1. For perspective, some of the more recently released programs in Samsung Apps include Pandora, ESPN and Skype.
