Samsung has said that it will start selling its revamped Series 9 ultrabooks from the 25 February in the UK.

The company announced on Wednesday that the "new look" device would launch in the UK before the end of the month.

"Boasting an updated premium look — the result of 33,000 hours of craftmanship, the Series 9 features a mineral ash finish with contrasting natural matte aluminium sides, and has also been sand-blasted to offer a fingerprint resistant surface," Samsung said in a statement.

Under the bonnet, the Series 9 laptop has an Intel Core i5 2467M processor, 13.3-inch display, 4GB RAM and 128GB solid state drive (SSD).

Samsung said the Series 9 device will provide up to 7 hours* of battery life and can boot up in just 1.4 seconds using the Fast Start feature.

Overall, the slimline device weighs just 1.16Kg and measures only 12.9mm thick, making it thinner than the MacBook Air which is 17mm at its thickest point.

The original Samsung Series 9 was announced at CES 2011 in Las Vegas.

* Samsung had previously told ZDNet UK that the 9 Series had a 10 hour battery life.
