Samsung taps Doug Ryan to lead health unit

Summary:One key assignment: find new revenue streams for its healthcare unit.


Samsung Electronics announced this morning that it has appointed Doug Ryan as group vice president for its Health and Medical Equipment group, which is tucked in the company's larger Enterprise Business division.

The Toshiba veteran will be tasked with "exploring new avenues of growth in healthcare," a particular focus for the larger company as part of its global 2020 plan.

Ryan will be based in Ridgefield Park, N.J. He'll be in charge of Samsung's line of advanced healthcare systems, but also coordinate with recently acquired NeuroLogica, which makes imaging equipment, and Nexus DX, which makes diagnostic equipment.
