Enterprise software and Business Intelligence vendor SAP has launched its first iPhone app designed to tie-in with its Business ByDesign offering, the company announced on Tuesday.

The app, which is available for iOS devices running version 3.1.3 —meaning that it will play nicely with the iPad—or above, is now available as a free download from the iTunes store for customers with Business ByDesign feature pack 2.5, launched in July.

SAP's Business ByDesign software is aimed at small-to-midsize business market and provides preconfigured processes for managing financials, customer relationships, human resources, projects, procurement, and the supply chain.

In its current form the app focuses on providing content for users in managerial or sales roles and is only available for Apple devices but the company said that it plans to encompass more roles and more mobile platforms, including Android, Windows Phone 7 and BlackBerry. The app doesn't include any Augmented Reality options but the standard SAP BusinessObjects Explorer for iPhone and iPad does include this functionality, Timo Elliot, senior director of strategic marketing at SAP told ZDNet UK.
