SAP steps up its mobile sales intelligence game

A user interface dubbed the "sales cockpit" and lines up an aesthetically pleasing view that promises to have everything sales people need on the road.

SAP on Thursday rolled out a new SAP Customer Insight mobile app to connect with its Sales OnDemand service. The aim: Make user interface a vehicle to bring analytics to the masses.

The user interface is dubbed the "sales cockpit" and lines up an aesthetically pleasing view that promises to have everything sales people need on the road. By itself, the SAP app isn't a big deal, but the broader picture is that legacy software vendors, which have been known for clunky interfaces, see UI as a battleground.

SAP's mobile app gives sales people customer data, pricing, quotes, news feed and other information. The app is integrated with SuccessFactors Jam.
