Server sales in Asia grew 6.7% in 2003

Demand for computer servers in the Asia-Pacific region excluding Japan rose 6.7% to slightly more than 5 bln dollars in 2003, US-based research firm Gartner says.

Demand for computer servers in the Asia-Pacific region excluding Japan rose 6.7% to slightly more than 5 bln dollars in 2003, US-based research firm Gartner says. Server sales in China rose 10% to 1.62 billion dollars in 2003, accounting for 32.4% of the regional total, up from 31.6% in 2002. South Korean sales fell 1.9% to 1.06 billion dollars or 21.1% of the total. Sales in India rose 31.9% to 327.1 million dollars and are tipped to grow further as the world's top companies outsource operations there. Sales in Taiwan grew 2.8 % 331.1 million dollars in 2003, Singapore was up 15.7% at 233.62 million dollars while Kong Kong fell 5.3% to 222.16 million dollars.
