31 felony counts later, revenge porn kingpin disavows revenge porn

CNET revenge porn

Kevin Bollaert - owner and operator of revenge porn extortion site UGotPosted.com - was arrested last Tuesday by California Department of Justice agents after a six-month investigation.

He has been charged with 31 felony counts of conspiracy, identity theft and extortion and is facing possible jail time and fines; he would extort victims by offering photo removal for a fee.

The defendant told CNN that he feels remorse for his actions and has renounced revenge-porn-as-profession, but does not believe he has committed any crimes.

Rule #34 rules again: financial erotic fiction

Students at elite MBA programs have been getting their, er, columns checked at a Tumblr called Erotic FinFiction, which adds a decidedly NSFW twist to overwrought business jargon.

Think Fifty Shades of Grey, if E.L. James worked in HR at an investment bank.

They were at it all night. They had closed the door, so that no-one could hear them pounding away at their model, trying the most unconventional, wildest assumptions, pivoting tables left and right, merging each and every cell.

… At times he felt he needed a break but he knew she wouldn’t let him stop until he gave her at least a 3X exit.

Twitter protest against Cameron's porn filter shows no signs of stopping

UK Prime Minister David Cameron's plan to force ISP's to censor Internet access for UK customers "to protect the children" (from a variety of topics, including - but not limited to - sexual content) is set to go through, but a significant number of UK citizens remain opposed to the continually half-baked plan.

On December 12 British anti-censorship campaigners took to Twitter as part of a day of action against Cameron's plan for online censorship using the hashtag #CensoredUK - and the tag continues to rage nonstop through even today, December 16.

The campaign has thus far fueled 15721 signatures to the Open Rights Group's petition against the filter.

Judge confuses streaming as downloading, exposes 20K viewers in porn troll lawsuit

In a shocking mistake, around 20,000 people who watched porn on U.S.-based website RedTube have had their names and addresses released by a German court.

The judge presiding over the copyright trolling lawsuit did not know the difference between downloading a video and streaming a video.

All of the affected people are thought to live in Germany.

This thread on Reddit attempts to deduce how the IP logging on RedTube occurred.

Daily life in the Internet's "red light district"

There are currently an estimated 2,000 adult webcam studios in operation in Romania, nicknamed "the red light district of the Internet."

90 percent of Romania's paying clients live in North America, meaning that nearly all of a Romanian studio’s clientele are American.

One VICE reporter spent a month living in such a studio, in Bucharest.

Ghostery: the internet is for porn (and tracking)

Using the volunteer panel data from GhostRank along with other sources, we were able to find some… interesting information.

The anti-tracking browser product states that its findings show that 15 percent of the Internet is comprised of porn websites.

Interestingly, Ghostery also states that in 2011, paid subscriptions to adult websites worldwide reduced to half of what they were in 2005 ($10 billion, down from $20 billion).
