Locally-based Geo Millenium System Pte Ltd's RoadPilot, an electronic Singapore street directory software, will now come bundled with Hewlett-Packard's handheld devices.

SINGAPORE--Geo Millenium System is a solutions provider of global positioning systems, geographical information systems and wireless data communications.

In a statement, Hewlett-Packard Singapore Pte Ltd claimed that the RoadPilot software offers users "easy road navigation" when installed on HP CompactFlash card with the HP Jornada 548 Pocket PC and Jornada 720 handheld PC.

"It (RoadPilot software) can be used to locate the nearest consumer services, measure the distance from one destination to another and search for a particular location," HP claimed in the statement.

Users will have access to 20 categories of geographical information including locations of golf courses, movie theatres and petrol pump stations.

In addition, the software has features such as zooming in and panning of areas around an identified spot, HP claimed.

When contacted, Geo Millenium System managing director Titus Chia said it has a user base of more than 10,000 for RoadPilot, with more than 2,000 installed in Jornadas since 1998. With the HP alliance, the company is targeting 5,000 users by June this year, he said.

HP said that from April 20, consumers who buy the Jornada 548 pocket PC at S$899, will be entitled a free 8MB HP CompactFlash card with the RoadPilot software (both worth a total of S$320) and a cash rebate of S$100.

Last December, agis Pte Ltd, a local firm which provides geographic information systems and solutions, developed a global positioning system called GPS Navigator to assist HP Jornada 548 pocket PC and Jornada 680 handheld PC users in road navigation.
