Singapore, 20 July 2000 - SingNet, an Internet Service Provider in Singapore and a wholly-owned subsidiary of SingTel, and Nifty, a Japanese ISP and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu, has announced a strategic partnership to provide their customers with an expanded range of Internet services.

With this strategic partnership, customers of both SingNet and Nifty have access to content and services provided by both ISPs. The Internet services which will be developed by SingNet and Nifty under the partnership are direct roaming, content sharing and e-commerce.

Direct roaming will enable SingNet customers to roam and surf the web faster and with greater ease using the services of Nifty when in Japan and likewise for Nifty customers in Singapore.

SingNet will host Nifty's Japanese web content while Nifty will host SingNet sites. The content will be localized in a later phase to reach out to more local surfers.

The joint partnership will also make it easier for SingNet and Nifty customers to perform e-commerce transactions at both ISPs' sites and purchase online Japanese and Singapore goods respectively.

Mr Leong Shin Loong, CEO of SingTel Multimedia said, "This partnership with Nifty will bring great benefits to our SingNet customers, who will soon be able to surf Japanese websites and shop for Japanese merchandise with ease and enjoyment."

"Nifty will continue its effort to develop global services by building up multinational alliances with major ISPs in the world so that it can provide better quality service to its customers," said Mr Watanabe, President of Nifty Corporation.
