KUALA LUMPUR - Skali.com is making its portal content available to mobile devices with a new service dubbed Skali On-the-move.

The enhanced service will deliver the portal's Asian-centric content to users of wireless and mobile communication gadgets.

Users can personalize content by creating a profile and selecting information and applications that interest them most, based on the web portal's categories.

Alternatively, they can transfer existing customized content on 'MySkali' to the wireless device of their choice.

"Skali On-The-Move is part of Skali.com's commitment to make our services easily available to users of any device anytime and anywhere in the world, " said Aimi Aizal Nasharuddin, head of Skali.com. "We see this as a logical extension to our WAP-based services launched earlier this year."

Managed by a Malaysian company, the Skali group, the web information portal pulls together an array of information, including real-time news, and intranet and Internet search guides, and categorizes them into distinct sections and categories.

Future plans for the company would be to provide m-commerce applications, micro-payment facilities and billing services wirelessly.

U.S. based mobile Internet company, AvantGo Inc., will be providing the technological platform for Skali On-the-Move.

"The inclusion of Skali.com as a channel partner will bring our more than 1 million registered users a fresh Asian perspective, alongside our existing content providers," says Ann Culver, director of partner marketing and development for AvantGo. "As PDAs are making their way into the mainstream in Asia, be it for personal or business purposes, we are pleased to bring users who want to move beyond the PCs access to Skali On-The-Move."
