Soaking up some rays: Freescale testing tech to bring solar charging to mobile gadgets

There's a thought-provoking article in the Arizona Republic about some circuit-level technology coming out of Freescale Semiconductor that could eventually let cell phone makers build solar-power charging capabilities into their gadgets.The technology is supposed to help boost the energy created by a series of solar cells into a high-enough voltage (about 5 volts) to power a device's battery.

There's a thought-provoking article in the Arizona Republic about some circuit-level technology coming out of Freescale Semiconductor that could eventually let cell phone makers build solar-power charging capabilities into their gadgets.

The technology is supposed to help boost the energy created by a series of solar cells into a high-enough voltage (about 5 volts) to power a device's battery. It could actually be in commercial release by the second half of this year.
