No foolin' here: Software.net on April 1 will introduce its new CEO and a deal with Excite Inc.

Software.net, an online software store, will name Mark Breier as CEO. Breier was vice president of marketing at Amazon.com (AMZN). He will report to Bill McKiernan, chairman of software.net.

It also landed a three-year deal with Excite (XCIT), which will make it the exclusive online software reseller for certain sections of Excite. Software.net will be featured on the Computer and Internet channel's software department, the Software Shopping area of the Shopping Channel, and the Small Business section of Excite's Business and Investing channel.

In a statement, software.net called the deal worth multiple millions.

Software.net said in its release that hiring Breier as CEO completes the separation of Software.net fom CyberSource Corp., an e-commerce vendor. Both companies are based in San Jose, Calif.
