A man has been sentenced to 18 months in an American jail and had his computer equipment seized for distributing pirated software worth up to $120,000.

Kishan Singh pleaded guilty to a charge of infringement of copyright in October, and was sentenced on Monday,

According to the Washington Times, Singh had been selling pirated copies of Microsoft, Adobe and and Macromedia software. Police reportedly found that thousands of illegal versions of programs had been downloaded from Singh's Web site over six months.

The US court and Singh agreed he copied and sold software valued between $70,000 and $120,000.
