Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 media preview event in London
The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is one of the most anticipated Windows Mobile devices given that SE is joining the ranks of Windows Mobile and the unique design features. With a confirmed T-Mobile USA 3G version coming I will be buying this device to use with my T-Mobile account as soon as I can. Today Sony Ericsson held an exclusive media preview event in London and Paul at MoDaCo covered it live. Arne Hess also posted a video with some hands-on time with the XPERIA X1.
Sony Ericsson has a different advertising strategy going on for the X1 featuring the Johnny X character. Over a three week time frame they will post a new episode of Johnny X on the site every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting on Monday, 22 September.

The X1 will launch on 30 September in the UK, Germany, and Sweden with availability elsewhere around the world (Europe, Asia, Latin America) throughout the 4th quarter of 2008. Unfortunately, it sounds like a U.S. release may be later rather than sooner as the press release states that "countries not mentioned above will be announced by local markets in the coming months." I guess it takes quite a while to get through the US regulatory and wireless carrier systems.
