Sony has announced the awaited replacement to the Alpha A700 digital SLR. The SLT-A77 is expected to drop during the middle of this year.

Pricing hasn't been revealed yet, but the price tag will probably be hefty given the upgrades. The A77 will be getting a new transparent mirror (just like the A33 and A55), full HD video recording, and a 500mm f/4 G-series lens.

Nitty gritty specs weren't mentioned, but there is speculation that the sensor will offer a resolution of approximately 20 megapixels.
