Sony's dual-screened Tablet P is finally making its way stateside. Available via AT&T on March 4th, the Tablet P will sell for $399 with a two-year contract. AT&T will also sell the device contract-free for $549.
That means that, after two years with AT&T's $50-per-month 5GB DataConnect plan, the Tablet P will cost owners a hefty $1600. That's clearly a lot of money but it's not unusual as far as on-contract tablets go. And that's exactly the problem.
Fortunately, AT&T also offers an off-contract 250MB data plan, which runs for $15 a month and is a better fit for more casual data users.
The Tablet P, joining devices like Sony's recently-released PS Vita, will take advantage of AT&T's 4G network. While the tablet currently runs Android 2.3, Sony plans to upgrade the device to Android 4.0 in the coming months.
