Mobility leaders plans a series of conferences on the future of wireless communication.

SINGAPORE, 24 May 2000 - A series of WAP leadership activities kicks off with a two-day WAP Developers’ Conference and Training in Singapore today. Sponsored StarHub with Siemens and Phone.com, this event is the first joint event among the three partners after their collaboration agreement was inked earlier this year.

The first-ever conference in Singapore catering solely to WAP-based developers entitled ‘Innovating the Mobile World’, the event is targeted at content providers, SMEs and WAP developers. The event will feature workshops and presentations that will help build the skills and business relationships required to rapidly deliver high-quality WAP services to consumers.

Said StarHub General Manager, Mobility, Mr Wee Way Kiat, “Even as operators strive to work at an Internet pace to deliver new solutions and service offerings to consumers, it is important to understand how to maximise the solutions to bring the best value-added offerings to the users. StarHub intends to lead and innovate in the WAP area by fostering a creative and highly interactive environment among leading players in the market so more relevant partnerships are spawned to better address WAP users’ information needs.”

“StarHub’s promise to its consumers is to deliver innovative solutions. Coupled with the new technology in GPRS and 3G, StarHub will focus on becoming the leading wireless data Service Provider in Singapore through new enhanced services on contents and applications.”

At the Conference, StarHub will elaborate on its business strategy to deliver WAP services to users, the impact of new technologies on WAP and the challenges facing WAP application developers.

The Developers Conference will be the first of many conferences to be hosted by StarHub and its strategic partners. Since its launch in April this year, StarHub has unveiled over 39 WAP applications that are made available to consumers via StarHub’s iPower WAP services.

StarHub is Singapore’s new operator for both fixed and mobile telecommunications services. StarHub is positioning itself to offer customers in Singapore a comprehensive info-communications solutions package for all their communications requirements including fixed and mobile phone to Internet services.

Siemens AGcovers the entire mobile telephone business, both in terms of communication devices and network technology and applications.

Phone.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:PHCM) is a leading provider of software, applications, and services that enable the delivery of Internet-based information and voice services to mass-market wireless telephones.
