Symantec outsources e-commerce to Digital River

Symantec Corp., a provider of Internet security, has signed a a global e-commerce agreement with Digital River Inc., a Commerce Service Provider (CSP).

Symantec aims to make its consumer Internet security products available globally, regardless of any language or currency barrier, with the help of Digital River.

MINNEAPOLIS - Symantec Corp., a provider of Internet security, has signed a a global e-commerce agreement with Digital River Inc., a Commerce Service Provider (CSP).

Under the terms of the agreement, Digital River will manage worldwide sales and delivery of both digital and physical products for Symantec, expanding the purchase options for Symantec customers while broadening product availability worldwide.

"Symantec will become one of Digital River's largest clients, and this represents a profitable relationship for both companies," said Joel Ronning, Digital River's CEO.

Digital River will manage all e-commerce products available within Symantec's online store including, Norton Anti-Virus, Norton Internet Security and Norton System Works.

Digital River will also provide e-marketing services to drive site traffic and maximize revenue opportunities. Symantec will use Digital River-developed cross-sells, up-sells, targeted e-mail campaigns, integration of offline direct marketing and shopping cart banners to increase online sales.

Additionally, Digital River will extend its volume licensing functionality to support the purchases of multiple site licenses for Symantec's business customers, as well as provide customer service for Symantec's global operations.

The global sites for Symantec will include the United States, Canada, Latin America, Brazil, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Middle East, South Africa, and Asia Pacific, all of which include localized language and currency.

All international sites will launch simultaneously.
