The DS413j features a 1.6 GHz CPU and DDR3 512MB RAM to ensure smooth multitasking performance. The DS413j features four drives bays that allows for a total of 16TB of storage. A variety of RAID types are supported, including RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 and RAID 10. Also supported is Synology's own Hybrid RAID and JBOD.

By using Synology’s ezCloud it's easy to configure the DS413jm for remote access, no need to mess with a router to configure access. Synology also have an app called DS file for the iPhone, iPad and Android devices. This allows remote access to anything stored on the NAS box via the Internet.

For the geared up home user, the DS413j can stream digital multimedia content to a PlayStation 3 or XBox 360. It can also stream videos and music to a DLNA/UPnP compatible TV set.

For those worried about data intrusion, the DS413j provides share-level AES 256-bit encryption to prevent unauthorized access to the data stored on the hard drives.

According to the spec sheet, the DS413jm uses 31.56W during full operation, and only 7.68W when the hard drives are hibernated. It's also quiet, outputting only 18db, the same as the average whisper.

The DiskStation DS413j is priced at $380, excluding hard drives.
