T-Mobile and BlackBerry announce new partnership, BlackBerry Classic launches on 13 May

T-Mobile stopped carrying BlackBerry devices last year and as both companies look to future growth, there is a realization that BlackBerry smartphones are important to business customers.

As ZDNet's Larry Dignan pointed out last year, T-Mobile and BlackBerry had a falling out and eventually T-Mobile stopped offering BlackBerry devices to customers.

In the spirit of love around this Mother's Day weekend, T-Mobile announced a new partnership with BlackBerry that begins with the BlackBerry Classic launching next week for $440.

President and CEO of T-Mobile, John Legere, stated:

People who love BlackBerry smartphones and want to use one on America's fastest nationwide 4G LTE network now have that choice. Bringing BlackBerry into our device line-up now also stokes Un-carrier 9.0, which is all about bringing the Un-carrier revolution to business.

I continue to use my BlackBerry Passport on T-Mobile and am pleased to see T-Mobile once again offer BlackBerry hardware. Hopefully, we continue to see new BlackBerry smartphones come to T-Mobile, perhaps the Leap will be next.
