T-Mobile has launched what it says is the only six-month business phone contract that comes with a free handset.

Announced on Tuesday, the plan comes with a choice of free phones — those opting for a £25-per-month contract will get a Nokia C3 Touch & Type, while those going for a £30-per-month version will be able to choose between the Nokia C3 Touch & Type, Nokia C5, Nokia C5-03, Samsung Monte (S5620) and Sony Ericsson Xperia X8.

"Our customers told us it didn't make sense for their business to be locked into long-term contracts when times are changing," T-Mobile SME marketing director Martin Lyne said in a statement. "Having the flexibility to adapt things quickly if needed is key to a small business' ability to survive and thrive, so we believe these shorter term plans, will be a great fit for small businesses."

At the same time, T-Mobile also launched new 18-month and 24-month business plans, as well as a 30-day SIM-only plan.

The company does not have any 12-month plans for business or consumer customers, although it will have to do so from May, when the EU Telecoms Package comes into force. The legislation forces all operators to reintroduce the now-rare one-year contract term, while also banning the three-year terms that some operators have recently tried to introduce.
