T-Mobile is offering new and existing customers the option of a 'truly unlimited' data plan, instead of its usual capped usage offers.

The deal will be available over the summer — between 1 July and 30 September — to new or upgrade-eligible customers that sign up for a 24-month contract of £25.54 or more.

"The new truly unlimited internet promotion has been designed to allow customers to browse, stream, email and download their favourite content to their heart’s content, without the need to monitor their usage," T-Mobile said in a statement on Wednesday.

Existing customers that are not yet due an upgrade are still eligible for the offer, as long as they are on a contract of equivalent length and cost, and that it already includes some form of data plan. Non-upgrade eligible customers will need to agree to an additional £5.10 monthly bundle cost to keep the unlimited data option for the remainder of the contract.

Handsets such as the HTC Desire S, Samsung Galaxy S II and iPhone 4 are all eligible for the unlimited data plan.

In January, T-Mobile announced that it was halving the data allowance — from 1GB to 500MB — for contract customers under the terms of its fair-use policy.
