T-Mobile switches 'unlimited' to voice only- data plans now capped

T-Mobile announced new smartphone plans that seem to be positioning it for membership in the AT&T family soon. The new plans now offer a bucket of minutes for voice calls that can be paired up with a different bucket of data usage for smartphones.

The new voice plans are available with 500, 1000 or unlimited minutes, with unlimited texting adding $10 per month. Customers choose the desired voice plan and then add on the data plan. The unlimited voice plan with the various data plans are priced as follows:

200MB- $69.99

2GB- $79.99

5GB- $89.99

10GB- $119.99

T-Mobile is also offering these plans in family packages. These data plans are without overage fees, the carrier simply throttles bandwidth back to "2G" speeds when the caps have been reached. These plans all require a 2-year contract to get this pricing, along with handset subsidies.

Also introduced today, T-Mobile is launching the Monthly4G plans which are contract-free. These monthly plans are pay as you go and run from $50 - $70 depending on the data cap desired.
