Telstra ops reshuffles for three-card play
Telstra has announced a restructure of its operations unit, which will be divided into three departments: online and media applications; network and access technologies; and information technology.
According to a Telstra staff memo sent out yesterday, the architecture, online and media department will be responsible for Telstra's online and media applications. The department will be developing an "improved" online self-help capability for its customers.
The network and access technologies department will be responsible for the "planning, design, deployment and performance of Telstra's access, core and service enabling (wired and wireless) networks".
The last department, information technology, will be led by current acting chief information officer Ashley Lazaro. The memo also announced the creation of an "IT infrastructure and services" unit, which will be responsible for the design and roll-out of IT infrastructure and datacentres.
Michael Lawrey, Telstra's former chief of the network and technology division, will be responsible for the architecture, online and media department. Mike Wright, Telstra's director of wireless, will be overseeing the networks and access technologies department.
"The creation of these groups complements the recently formed Network and IT Operations team," said the announcement.
"For the remainder of Telstra operations it is business as usual — serving our customers and helping Telstra 'go for growth'," the memo concluded.
