Thales intros Android-based TouchPMU for in-flight entertainment
The TouchPMU is powered by an ARM Cortex processor, and it sports a 3.8-inch capacitive touch LCD (800 x 480 resolution). The handheld boasts an accelerometer and Flash support, and no device would be complete these days without some 3D graphics available. Better get ready to pack those shutter glasses in your carry-on bag now.
Most of what passengers will be able to do with device they can already do with the touchscreen on the seat in front of them - at least on certain, *ahem* better, airlines. The touchscreen interface offers up flight information, that awesome map of where the plane is, a food and beverage ordering service, games, shopping, and chatting with other passengers around the cabin.
Unfortunately, there's no sign of when this innovative travel accessory will hit the friendly skies, nor which airlines. But with that cherry red exterior, don't you think Virgin America will just grab this at the first chance?
