The Dan & David Show: Microsoft Dynamics, CRM dramatics, an OpenDoc rant and introducing 'Vistulations'

In this latest episode of the Dan & David Show, we go over the news of the week, including Google's hiring of Vint Cerf and the Apple/Motorola iTunes phone. We drill down on my visit to the Microsoft campus to hear from Bill and Steve all about the new focus on the mid-market and developing an ecosystem that spawns "micro-verticals" and leverages the Office suite and servers.

We note Steve Ballmer's promise to give salesforce.com a run for its money in the hosted CRM space and salesforce.com's Marc Benioff's retort, as well as how the on-demand CRM market in taking shape.  David rants about Microsoft's lack of support for the OpenDoc format, and predicts that the giant will end up supporting it as part of an upgrade (Office 12, which is due in the latter part of next year) or with a plug-in. David also talks about one of our new blogs--Microsoft Vistulations--which chronicles his exploration of Windows Vista and related technologies. All this and more in about 20 minutes that can be delivered directly to your desktop or MP3 player if you're subscribed to our podcasts (See ZDNet’s podcasts: How to tune in), or if you want you can just download  the MP3.  Let us know what you think.
