The real health care debate has begun
Forget the Presidential election process. The real health care debate starts only after the new President is inaugurated next January.
Or does it?
Both sides are already gearing up.
From the right, we see that Medicare Advantage plans are becoming major profit drivers for HMO companies like Humana. The company credited such plans for a 13% gain in earnings this quarter.
From the left was see a new effort to gain support for greater reform. Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon has launched a Web site, with a funny video, pushing his own plan, dubbed the Healthy Americans Act.
The video shows people trapped in bad jobs because they fear losing their health insurance. It's a humorous way to get across a serious message.
Expect a lot more things like this, from both sides, as 2009 gets closer.
That's when the real election season starts.
